Numerology is as old as our most ancient civilization. No one in fact knows the origin of the science of numerology but numbers are spoken of even in the ancient biblical literature and the Hindu mythological texts. As per the present records available, an identifiable history of numerology dates back to the Pythagoras period which runs between 569 and 470 B.C.
Pythagoras, a great sage, mathematician and philosopher of his times from Greece, had established a school in which he taught numerology, among other subjects. According to Pythagoras, the world is built upon the power of numbers and the system of the numbers works on the broader concept that the entire universe is composed of mathematical patterns. It is said that all things can be expressed in numbers which correspond to universal vibrations. Therefore, all things, including names, letters, words, birth dates and birthplaces, can be converted into numerical values in order to determine personalities, destinies and fortunes of individuals.
Though numerology has been in use for hundreds of years in some form or other, it underwent a lot of change in modern times. Certainly, what you perceive as numerology today was not the same as taught, practiced, or propagandized by Pythagoras; more has been written and rewritten on the subject in this century than in all of the previous centuries.
Cheiro: 20th century teacher of numerology
The only person who is responsible for the fast spread of numerology during the last century is William John Warner, better known as Cheiro, who also went by the name of Count Louis Hamon. One of the most famous and colorful occult figures of the early 20th century, Cheiro was a clairvoyant who used palmistry, astrology, and numerology to make accurate predictions and who inspired hundreds of numerologists and astrologers the world over. He was the inspiration yesterday, is the inspiration today and will be the inspiration tomorrow. Born at 10:53 LMT on November 1, 1866 in Dublin, Ireland, Cheiro had a vast following of famous European and American clients such as Mark Twain, Sarah Bernhardt, Mata Hari, Oscar Wilde, Grover Cleveland, Thomas Edison, the Prince of Wales, General Kitchener, William Gladstone, and Joseph Chamberlain. He spent his final years in Hollywood working for movies until his death on October 8, 1936.
The power and influence of numbers
Numbers are in fact used every day, and they are absolutely indispensable in our lives! Can you imagine any activity or situation that is not related to numbers? Buy a book in a shop! Look at your watch to know the time! Go to a bank to draw or deposit cash! Buy a ticket to travel! You do anything in your life, it has got something to do with numbers in one way or the other.
The knowledge of numerology is like an ocean but as easy to understand as you drink a glass of water. When properly understood and appropriately applied, it can be an instrument to avoid major disasters. For instance, advanced numerology clearly says that the double digit number 17 has something of spirituality and immortality in it. But the science also says that the number, when associated with the numbers 4 and 8, creates havoc. When these numbers work in tandem, it results in tragic accidents and loss of precious life.
The tragic death of a talented actress
You will be surprised to know the power of numerology if you assess the tragic and untimely death of Ms. Soundarya, the famous South Indian multi-lingual young actress, who became a victim of these numbers. On April 17, 2004, she took off for a small town in Andhra Pradesh via Hyderabad from a Bangalore based airport, in a 49, a nine year old American made mini plane, along with three others including the pilot. The day was a Saturday. The plane took off at 11.05 a.m. and it came down crashing and exploding at 11.08 a.m., killing all the four occupants. Let us explore the power of fours and eights which caused the plane crash:
The number of the date was 8 (17=1+7=8)
The number of people aboard was 4.
The age number of the aircraft was 4 (49 years=4+9=13=1+3=4)
The month number was 4 (if you count from January, April becomes 4)
The year number was 4 in the century.
The age number of the actress was 4 (it was revealed later that she was 31 when she died in the crash; 3+1=4)
The numerical value of the day – Saturday – was 8 (Saturday represents 8 in numerology)
The plane crashed exactly at the eighth minute of the hour.
Here the double digit number 17 came in contact with fours and eights repeatedly and it resulted in the tragic death of the heartthrob of millions of Indian cinema goers. It is not without significance that the Director General of Civil aviation, Government of India, declared after a thorough investigation into the crash, that the crash would not have taken place had only three persons (including the pilot) taken off in the ill fated plane. He cited the reason that the plane's capacity was only four people but it carried more weight than the permitted one as it carried a drum of fuel in addition to the four victims. There is no reason to suspect that the Government Officer was equipped with the knowledge of numerology but certainly his argument carries weight as the influence of fours and eights could have been reduced drastically had there been only three persons in the plane.

In the last four lessons we discussed the fundamentals of advanced numerology, the characteristics of numbers, the characteristics of solar months, and the modification of the general characteristics of persons of various numbers, the importance of numerical values, and their meanings.
We will now delve into the world of the predictive and relationship aspects. This lesson focuses on the fundamentals of basic and period numbers, which play key roles in predictive numerology; please note that I developed this system through the application of an important principle of Vedic Astrology.

The Basic and Period Numbers
The base for predictive numerology lies in the natural and functional qualities of the numbers and the zodiac. When astrologically viewed, every person has a zodiacal ascendant. Specialty of 5, 6, 9 as the basic numbers
Take the numbers 5, 6, 9, all the other numbers own only single signs (refer to section 2 in lesson 2), yet these three numbers have lordship of two signs each, and when you get one of these three as the basic number, you may doubt as to which one of the two signs owned by it should be treated as the basic number. For example, you may get the basic number as 5 from a person’s birth date. Number 5 owns 2 signs, of which one is negative and the other is positive. In such a situation, you cannot go by a random method, but you have to find out the solar or numerical month in which the person is born. If the month represents a positive sign, take 5 positive as the basic number. Or if the month represents a negative one, take 5 negative as the basic number.
The following calculation will make things much clearer: If a person is born on September 5, his basic number is 5 positive.
Number of Date + Number of Month
5 + 9 = 14 = 1+4 =5 Since this birth date falls in the numerological month (August 24–September 23) which is positive, the basic number becomes 5 positive. When the basic number is 5, 6, or 9 owning two signs, and the numerological month is that of 2 and 1, which are both positive and negative, you have to adopt the following method and should not take into consideration the numerological month: if the birth date falls with in the first fifteen days of the month, take the positive one as the basic number, but if the birth date is on or after 16th of the month, take the negative one as the basic number.
What is the period number?
A person’s period number is obtained by adding the number of the birth date and the number of the numerological month in which he is born. If you are born on August 21 (again, the year is not mentioned as it is not part of calculations here), your period number is 4. See how it is calculated:
The day falls in the numerological month of 1 representing Leo whose period is from July 23 to August 23.

One may wonder why the number of the year is not considered in the calculation of either the basic number or the period number. It becomes clear that this is not useful when considering that the year of birth is never repeated in anyone’s life. On the other hand, date, month and numerological month are often repeated in everybody’s life. For example, take a person is born on August 15, 1989. In his life, he may come across many August months and many dates of 15 in addition to many numerological months of the same number but he never sees the year 1989 again. As a result of this, the role played by the year of birth is nil in predictive numerology and the year number is avoided.
As already discussed in lessons 2 and 3, a person’s general nature and characteristics are decided by the number of the date on which s/he is born and the number of the numerological month in which s/he is born. Again, the year of birth plays no role. Please note that these two numbers are obtained to be used in predictive numerology only and not anywhere else.
Periods of Numbers
Before proceeding to work on these numbers, we must learn about the periods of numbers. In the age-old Indian Vedic astrology, a time tested method known as the Vimshottari period system is used for knowing and predicting the future events. It has already been pointed out that the numbers cannot act independently but they, as the true representatives of the planets, inherit their qualities and pass on the same to mankind. Along with the qualities and characteristics of the planets, the numbers inherit their periods also. The following are the periods of various numbers as inherited from the respective planets:

The order of periods
Now we shall study how these periods operate. While counting money, buying things from a shop. or withdrawing money from a bank (or for anything else where counting is used), we use the numbers starting from one. This means that number one always comes first, followed by two. Two is always followed by three, to be followed by four, and so on. We do this intentionally and counting is done from one. But do these numbers, whenever they act, act one by one in order, as we do the counting, like number one is followed by two, and two followed by three, and so on?
No! They never act in order as we do so intentionally. Is the same winning number repeated in races daily? Did you ever find the serial numbers of winning horses on a single day to be in serial order like 1, 2, 3 and 4 and so on? Did you ever get the cinema hall tickets or train tickets containing serial order numbers during your two regular visits to a cinema hall or train journeys?
You can never say “yes” to such questions, as numbers have a tendency to act at random. In such circumstances, it is also very difficult to say that the periods of numbers operate in serial order. For example, a person who completes the number one period has to enter the phase of the number two period, and after that pass through the number three period, if one goes by the serial order. As it is not possible for the periods of numbers to act in such a serial order, a system is needed to be used in predictive numerology.
Each and every human being normally undergoes nine different phases in his or her life, and each number represents a different phase of life. We have already discussed the various characteristics of numbers in detail in lesson number 2. At this time, please note the chief characteristics of numbers:

It should be understood from this that when a number considers another number as a friendly one, the latter should not necessarily reciprocate the former in the same manner.
When this is applied to people, a number 1 person, born on any date whose digits are equal to 1 when totaled, is considered friendly by a number 5 person, born on any date whose digits are equal to 5 when totaled. Yet, it must be noted that a number 1 man or woman always considers a number 5 person, male or female, as a neutral person only. This plays an important role in predicting relationships between people.

This lesson focuses on the fundamentals of basic and period numbers, which play key roles in predictive numerology; please note that I developed this system through the application of an important principle of Vedic Astrology.

The base for predictive numerology lies in the natural and functional qualities of the numbers and the zodiac. When astrologically viewed, every person has a zodiacal ascendant. Likewise, when seen from the numerological angle, every person has a basic number and a period number. This lesson deals with the calculation part of the predictive numerology. Having gone through the details of the basic and period numbers, as well as initials of the main and sub periods in part 1, we will discover the calculation of said periods for predicting events. It also teaches the method for finding out the number period in which a birth or an event takes place.

Calculating the Periods
Now comes the question of calculating the periods. The period number is the yardstick for calculating the period in which a person is born. For example, a person‘s birth date is August 25, 1985.
His period number is: 3 (Date + Numerological month)Date: 25=2+5=7Numerological month: 5 positive (As the birth date falls between August 24 and September 23 in Virgo)7+5=12=1+2=3
This means that the person is born in the period of 3 which runs for 16 years. It can also be said that the person is born during the main period of 3. Since he was born in the middle of the year; he must have completed a part of the total of the 16 years represented by 3.
To calculate the completed part of the period for persons born in any month, a simple method is adopted. For this purpose, a full year (or a period of 12 months) is taken as the measurement. To put it another way, you have to consider that a full year is equal to a period of 16 years or 192 months. In this case, the person is born on August 25 and has completed 7 months and 24 days in the year. While calculating the completed part of the period, the number of days also should be taken into consideration.
In the case of people born in a number 3 period, a full year or a period of 12 months is equal to 16 years or 192 months. This implies that one month or a period of 30 days is equal to 16 months or a period of 480 days and one day is equal to16 days.
Now apply the following calculation: if a period of 12 months is equal to a total period of 16 years or 192 months, the period of 7 months and 24 days is equal to how many months and days?12 months =192 months7 months =?(7 x 192) : 12 = 112 months1 day = 16 days24 days = ?24x16 days = 384 days =12 months and 24 daysFor 7 months = 112 months For 24 days = 12 months and 24 daysTotally it is 124 months and 24 days, or 10 years, 4 months, and 24 days
This means that the person has completed 124 months and 24 days, or 10 years, 4 months, and 24 days in a total period of 192 months, or 16 years, leaving a balance of 5 years, 7 months, and 6 days. If you add this balance period to his date of birth, you will get the date by which he completes the number 3 main period. Likewise, you can go on adding the succeeding main periods or sub periods in the next main period.

To calculate the completed part of the period for persons born in any month, a simple method is adopted. For this purpose, a full year (or a period of 12 months) is taken as the measurement. To put it another way, you have to consider that a full year is equal to a period of 16 years or 192 months. In this case, the person is born on August 25 and has completed 7 months and 24 days in the year. While calculating the completed part of the period, the number of days also should be taken into consideration.
In the case of people born in a number 3 period, a full year or a period of 12 months is equal to 16 years or 192 months. This implies that one month or a period of 30 days is equal to 16 months or a period of 480 days and one day is equal to16 days.
Now apply the following calculation: if a period of 12 months is equal to a total period of 16 years or 192 months, the period of 7 months and 24 days is equal to how many months and days?12 months =192 months7 months =?(7 x 192) : 12 = 112 months1 day = 16 days24 days = ?24x16 days = 384 days =12 months and 24 daysFor 7 months = 112 months For 24 days = 12 months and 24 daysTotally it is 124 months and 24 days, or 10 years, 4 months, and 24 days

Lesson 8: Relationship Numerology
Relationship numerology is undoubtedly the best part of advanced numerology, since it can be applied successfully in anybody’s daily life. The aim of this lesson is to equip you with the ability of assessing the unfavorable nature of the numbers 2, 4, 8 and 9, and understanding the internal relationship between the name and birth date of a person, and the external relationships a person would have with other people.
It will also provide you with the apparatus of suggesting ways and means, numerically, to improve the harmony in relationships between people, and between persons and things.

The Weak and Dangerous Numbers
Advanced numerology insists on a harmonious relationship between the name and birth date of a person, known as the internal relationship, to avoid inner contradictions, to ensure smooth success, and to lead a happy life on this planet. It also specifies how to maintain cordial relations with each and everybody and how to avoid quarrels and anxieties and lead a peaceful life. Harmony between a name and the birth date of a person develops through vibrations of numerical values representing the two factors. When there is no vibration and harmony between the two, conflicting interests would crop up disturbing peace and tranquility in one’s life.
It is already explained in section 2 of value numerology that 2 is the weakest number and 4 is an unfortunate number. 8 is the most unfortunate one and 9 is a destructive power. Because of these tendencies, the power of these numbers should never be allowed to be repeated in one’s life. Numbers 2, 4, 8, or 9 persons should be cautious enough not to repeat the power of these numbers in their lives.
This means that if the numerical value of a person‘s birth date (only the date is to be considered, and not the month or year) equals 2, 4, or 8, it is better not to have names whose numerical value equals the value of anyone of these birth dates. It should be strictly observed if one wants to have a trouble free life. A number 9 person must take care not to repeat the influence of 9.
Students must have a clear understanding of these numbers.
A small example makes things very clear for them. A number 2, 4, or 8 person must not do any important thing on a date which equals any one of these numbers. These persons must not live in streets or houses whose numerical values equal any one of these numbers.
These people should also not travel in trains or buses whose total number equals 2, 4, or 8 if they want to avoid accidents or failures in journeys. Such repeated occurrence for the persons of these numbers is always dangerous.

Number 8 is the most unfortunate one. It is the source for anybody’s distress, depression, or melancholy. So, number 8 people must take care to see that this number is not repeated in their lives in any form. They should invariably try to avoid its repetition to escape sudden tragic happenings in their lives.
Though the number 9 is a highly powerful number, one should not forget about the destructive nature of this number. Number 9 people must be vigilant of the repetition of this number in their lives. Not Fully Bad
It must be noted that these numbers are not absolutely bad and dangerous. They are good for certain purposes depending on their characteristics.
For example,
you can offer a loan to a number 4 person who would certainly repay it with due thanks, as he does not generally touch others’ money. This quality comes to him from his opposing nature to the accumulation of wealth. But please note that a number 4 person is not fit for doing business as he is not a materialistic person and generally opts for straightforwardness which does not fit in the business qualities. External Relationship
Achieving harmony in internal relationships is the first and foremost step in order to have a highly harmonious and useful external relationship with others. Now comes up the question of how to have harmony and get successful results in relation to external activities.
For example, a number 1 person wants to enter into a business transaction with somebody. If the number 1 person knows what number person the opposite party is, it becomes easy for the former to deal with the latter and come out successful in the transaction. It is already explained in section 2 of value numerology that 2 is the weakest number and 4 is an unfortunate number. 8 is the most unfortunate one and 9 is a destructive power. Because of these tendencies, the power of these numbers should never be allowed to be repeated in one’s life. Numbers 2, 4, 8, or 9 persons should be cautious enough not to repeat the power of these numbers in their lives.

External Relationship
Achieving harmony in internal relationships is the first and foremost step in order to have a highly harmonious and useful external relationship with others. External relationships are of several kinds and can not be specified, restricted, or defined in a limited manner as relations between people may vary depending on several factors and requirements.
Borrowing or lending money, buying or selling a thing, attending an interview or interviewing a person, constructing a house or working for somebody constructing a house, entering into a life or business partnership, traveling long or short distance for attending a function, joining a college or school for education and to see a movie or participate in an entertainment show, and so many other things in a person’s daily life come under the category of external relationship. As I explained earlier, it is very difficult to define the term external relationship but it can be safely stated that any thing or activity (other than personal) becomes an external activity.
Now comes up the question of how to have harmony and get successful results in relation to external activities.
For example, a number 1 person wants to enter into a business transaction with somebody. If the number 1 person knows what number person the opposite party is, it becomes easy for the former to deal with the latter and come out successful in the transaction. In case the number 1 person is dealing with a number 2 male or female, the former should take note of the fickle minded nature of the latter and take a cautious step in closing the deal. He must know that the number 2 person may change his or her mind or put in new conditions before the agreement is signed. But once the agreement is signed, the number 1 person may bring the person of number 2 under his command, as the latter does not have a strong mind and can easily be commanded. The only problem with them is that they are not reliable because of their fickle mindedness.
If the opposite party is a number 3 person, the deal may be a fair one since the number 3 person sticks to his or her principles or commitments. The deal would be a perfect one if the number 1 person deals with a number 4 man or woman, as the number 4 person stands for straightforwardness. If the person to be dealt with is a number 5 male or female, the transaction acquires a real commercial look as that person stands for materialistic and business outlook and uses his or her shrewd and cunning nature in having an upper hand over the number 1 person. If the person is of number 6, the number 1 person falls for the attractive nature and magnetic power of the former and loses ground in the transaction knowingly or unknowingly.
If the opposite party is of number 7, there may be a philosophical touch to the business agreement. A deal with a number 8 person will have some obstacles or be delayed. Entering into an agreement with a number 9 person may run into a rough weather as both the persons are of commanding and demanding nature. But once the agreement is signed, they can get along very well as both are friendly numbers. Any transaction a number 1 person would have with another number 1 person will have equal pulls and pressures as both of them are of the same temperament. For a number 1 person, 28 is also one of the suitable dates. But the meaning of the double digit number 28 (please refer to section 3 of value numerology) is a number of great promises. It indicates loss through trust in others, opposition, competition in trade, and danger through law agencies. It also represents a person beginning his life again and making a new beginning again.
Though it is a number of great promises, for all important things this date must be avoided as it indicates several unfavorable aspects also. Especially while dealing with some governmental agencies or officials, the involvement of number 28 should not be seen anywhere as the number indicates danger through law agencies. So, it may be a suitable date for a number 1 person but still he or she should avoid using it. To state it clearly, a person should not deal with another person who represents the number 28 in some form or other. A person is said to be representing the number 28 when he resides in a house whose number is 28, whose vehicle number is 28, who lives on a street whose number is 28, or whose birth date is 28. For these people, life begins again and again. They will also lose money because of the trust imposed in others. Keeping this in view, one should avoid dates or people, things, or events representing the double digit numbers having some unfavorable or dangerous meanings.
